Women
are born with eggs (ovum) which are stored in one of the
two ovaries. Every month, an egg matures, leaves the
ovary and travels down one of the fallopian tubes into
the uterus. The process of the egg leaving the ovary is
called 'ovulation'.
Just
before ovulation, the body produces a large amount of
Luteinizing Hormone (LH) which triggers the release of a
ripened egg from the ovary. This is known as an LH surge
and usually takes place in the middle of the menstrual
cycle.
Pregnancy can occur when the egg that is positioned in
the fallopian tube is fertilized by sperm. The egg
remains in the fallopian tube for about 24 hours.
However sperm can actually live up to 5 days. Therefore,
you can increase your chances of becoming pregnant by
planning intercourse one or two days before ovulation
occurs until one day after ovulation.
After
24 hours, if the egg is not fertilized, it will result
in menstruation.

The
chart depicts a regular cycle of 28 days. During normal
days, Luteinizing Hormone (LH) present in the body but
at small amount. The rapid rise in the amount of LH will
happen between 24-36 hours just before ovulation.
BIOTEST Ovulation Test Kit detects
the surge of Luteinizing Hormon in
your urine. There are 3 test kits in each box which allows the woman to
find the most fertile day during their mid cycle. Some women may need more test
kits compared to others. Once the LH surge is detected, it is the most fertile
for the next two days in the whole month and it is the right timing to plan for
conception.
